Washington, D.C. – The National Accreditation Commission (NAC) is proud to announce it has been awarded a grant from GitLab Foundation’s AI for Economic Opportunity Fund, securing funding to develop a next-generation AI-enabled Accreditation Information Hub (AIHub). This first-of-its-kind platform will streamline quality assurance for noncredit programs by providing educational institutions and state agencies with sophisticated monitoring tools, supporting the rapid deployment of workforce-aligned educational opportunities that meet pressing economic and labor market demands.
The AI for Economic Opportunity Fund, supported by GitLab Foundation, OpenAI, and Ballmer Group, is investing over $3.5 million across fourteen pioneering organizations to implement and scale AI-driven solutions that enhance economic mobility. This initiative is projected to generate significant long-term financial impact, unlocking an estimated $1.9 billion in increased lifetime earningsfor more than 86,000 individuals.
"The AIHub platform represents a breakthrough in how we approach accreditation, combining artificial intelligence with deep industry expertise to transform traditionally manual, time-intensive processes, while establishing the first dedicated accrediting body for noncredit programs," said Rebecca Busacca, President at the National Accreditation Commission. "With the GitLab Foundation’s support, we’re creating technology that will help evaluate and validate the quality of noncredit programs more efficiently and consistently, ultimately helping high-demand educational opportunities reach learners more quickly in our rapidly evolving economy.”
In partnership with GitLab Foundation, the National Accreditation Commission will receive advanced technical expertise, early product access, and AI API credits to enhance the development of AIHub. This initiative is aligned with a broader effort to catalyze $1 billion in new income for individuals earning below a living wage globally.
