Until now, they’ve operated without a programmatic accreditor purpose-built for their needs:
- A scope gap, not a failure. Institutional accreditors were designed to accredit institutions, and specialized accreditors have predominantly focused on degree programs – a rigorous and essential system, but one whose scope was never intended to cover the fast-moving, employer-driven noncredit sector.
